A LESSON ON VANS HALF CAB'S

Why is it called HALF CAB? Aight, Steve Caballero aka Steve Cab is a veteran professional skateboarder.  He's one of the most respected skateboarders in this skateboarding world, not only because of his good style and good skating but also because he's the most LOYAL skateboarder PERIOD.  He's been riding for the same skateboard companys and for the same skateboard shoes company for more than 2 decades, still repping them hard till today.Steve Caballero was also the first (Natas Kaupas from Etnies is definitely the second) professional skateboarder that had his own signature shoe model.  In this case, Steve Cab shoes model is from his day one sponsor, VANS.  When it first came out, it was a high top skateboard shoe which was called FULL CAB which is also a name for one of the tricks that Steve Caballero himself invented.  This FULL CAB shoe was perfect for vert skateboarders cause honestly, you don't really need to move your ankle much when you skate vert, especially the older vert skateboarding style back in the day.In the early 90's the skateboarding trend changed from vert skateboarding into more and more street skateboarding.   I can say the ratio is 90:10, yes, 90% street skateboarding and 10% vert skateboarding (sorry freestylers, I have no room for you guys, respect to R Mullen though).  As many of you have known already that most of the street skateboarders are the most creative, innovative people around, they cut the FULL CAB themselves and put a sticker to cover the damaged part instead of stitching them back together.  This functionable trend spread into Asia, Europe, Australia and all around the world making all street skateboarders cut their high top shoes into mid cut shoes.With the very popular in demand, Vans asked their pattern maker to make a mid cut FULL CAB which then they called it HALF CAB.  Interesting huh? After that, the rest was historyHALF CAB is definitely one of the best skateboard shoes out there and the shoes that is most worn by the most influential skateboarders out there.  HALF CAB is also the most copied shoe in this skateboarding industry.  It's most definitely a timeless shoe.These new HALF CAB COLLEGIATE SERIES just came out from Vans in their Spring 09 collection.  Amazing shape and color, HALF CAB shoes never stop to amaze.  The BLACK SUEDE is coming out in June 09.Anyway, enjoy.
