Brief film reviews...
Too many movies with lovein the title lately, and I have little love for them.
Give Love - Call it Love China, since that's what it does. It is obviously not intended for the HK audience. Give it Back...
Love Connected - Deaf people deserve care and understanding, Filipinas don't. Patrick Kong's 'twists' are anything but at this point, considering how reliably, predictably, and lazily he uses them. I don't love I Love You Boyz; I'd love to watch them get run over by a truck. Then again, I do love watching Miki Yeung, and can only dream of being connected to her.
Basic Love - Would benefit from basic focus; most of this film was blurrier than a lot of 1970's 'educational' films starring Emmanuelle... Elanne Kong and Janice do pretty well with what little they're given to work with.
And they kiss each other.
And it gets shown twice.
It's gratuitous, exploitative , and unnecessary.
I will definitely buy the DVD.
If we don't support the movies that deserve it, we get the movies that we deserve.
