Declinethe invitation. The Movie Night gang saw this at Elements rather than Dynasty due to a scheduling issue.
Which is unfortunate since this has Dynasty written all over it.
A Taiwanese shot- on-video production, it's the ROC's first slasher movie.
Which means, generically, that you're not looking for airtight plausibility.
But Invitation Only taxes your ability to suspend disbelief (and film literacy). It has plot holes bigger than a whale's episiotomy, a mind-numbing dearth of acting, and a seemingly endless supply of fortuitous coincidences that help our protagonists escape doom.
There are also two instances of people reacting to gunfire offscreen by asking "Did you hear that?"
It does, however, have lots and lots of blood. Gallonsof the stuff.
It also has more than a few squirm-worthy violence moments.
Sadly, these are usually book-ended by squirm-worthy narrative gaffes or 'acting.'
Oh, it also has the world's longest and most well-cleaned tunnel.
Which is not a joke about it's imported 'star.' This film is the mainstream debut of former Japanese AV star Maria Ozawa, and while her presence is marked by a distinct lack of both clothing and acting, it is nevertheless a cinematic landmark.
It's the first film in which she appears that doesn't have the word 'Anal' in the title.
If we don't support the movies that deserve it, we get the movies that we deserve.
