I went to bed late last night but I still managed to wake up at 7:30, alarm or not. I got out of bed and got to work on a video editing project I needed to finish up by tomorrow. I decided to take the footage and photos I’ve snapped so far to make a VCD music video thingee for the athletes and Li De Hua. I don’t really have much footage or photos of the athletes Wei Xin’s group, so it will just be for the people I trained with directly.
After a fair amount of time doing that I eventually got ready for my a...Read more
The two times a day training was probably a bit premature as I woke up this morning incredibly tired and sore. I made it through most of the warm up and stretching just fine but my back was hurting a bit so I went down to the medical clinic to get some work done on it. I got a good 20 - 30 minutes of massage work done to my back which helped enormously (much more than the massage from the night bef...Read more
The strangest thing happened during wushu class this morning. As I was going along the carpet the entire earth shifted about 1 or 2 feet straight down and then came back up again. It was very quick so some people may have missed it and perhaps it was localized just to my region of the planet, but it was very strange.
It happened again .. and then again. During the time when the earth dropped out below me I tried slapping my foot to see what would happen. Then I tried turning in place after a slight...Read more
Sunday has arrived and I spent my day off of wushu relaxing and enjoying myself, doing what I love to do best: being a nerd.
I tried to sleep in but the best I could do was 7:30. I wasn’t hungry thanks to the horrible duck last night so I just relaxed in my hotel room and did some media organization on my hard drives. At around 9:30 I went to run an errand at the computer store.
I had brought a hard drive with me but the casing’s power connection was having problems so I went to get a new casing put on....Read more

Even with the extreme length of these entries (and if you actually make it to the end of them, kudos to you!) I still managed to forget to write up a few things each day.

As many of you know, I came back to Shanghai for 10 days to help Tiffany get settled in on her training stint in Shanghai. She would be staying at my place and training with Yang Laoshi so I wanted to make sure she had the lay of the land. Plus, it had been a year since I last saw her so it seemed like a good chance to hang out with a good friend.
I had planned my travel from Shenzhen to arrive at PuDong airport just 30 minutes before her flight arrived. It worked out pretty well, and even though my flight w...Read more
I’m quite a bit behind on my blogging so I’m going to keep the next few entries relatively short and sweet (relatively speaking, of course).
I woke up on Saturday morning and Zhu Wen Jun and I ran over to the wushu guan to meet up with Yang Laoshi so that I could finalize plans for TR’s visit the following week. Unfortunately it was as I suspected. Yang Laoshi was expecting me to arrive the day before and he didn’t have class on Saturday for this particular week. That means I would have to wait until Monday...Read more
I actually wrote this entry already, but my battery died and I forgot to save it so I’m going to just give you the abridged version now instead. Here it is:
December 31
We spent the day hanging out at my place. In the evening went to the House of Jazz and Blues with my next door neighbor Sherry and her two friends. Got a birthday greeting from the singer in the band. Also got a lot of nice text messages from various friends around China. Afterwards the three of us went to City Di...Read more
The first thing we did after arriving in Shanghai was go to my travel agent’s office to pick up my tickets for Seoul and Hong Kong. There is something about actually having the tickets in your hand that makes a move to a new city seem just that much more “real”.
But then, after our marathon of sleeplessness and fun in Xiamen Peter and I were both a little out of it. We each in turn managed to take turns sleeping through a fair part of Friday. I did manage to get some work done and take ca...Read more
