I create therefore I am

People laugh when they see that the job title on my namecard is “creator”. The truth is, I wear so many hats that it’s impossible to list everything I do for hiphongkong. Sometimes I’m a writer and I create words, sometimes I’m a photographer or videographer and I create scrīpts and images, sometimes I create imagery by doing the styling for the set of a photo shoot. Then, there are times when I actually create the design, upload and code the website. The process of creation i...Read more

The Urban Cougar Phenomenon-younger men dating older women

I recently have been in contact with a very young man who claims that he dates almost exclusively older women because he can't relate to or have conversations with the younger ones. This same guy told me about the website urbancougar.com. The site is a kind of celebration of younger men who are in pursuit of hot older ladies- for whatever reason- whether it be because they are wiser, richer, more self-assured, less hang-ups about wanting a relationship or getting married, more experimental or eag...Read more

NYE 2008

Christmas is often lonely and depressing (like mine this year) and New Year’s Eve is often anti-climactic. There’s never any definitive event to go to and it’s never as fun as it’s portrayed in the movies.

This NYE, I had a whole bunch of parties to go to and I was on my way to the presidential suite of the Island Shangri-la for a “Night at the Playboy

Mansion” party. I thought I could get away with wearing this very sexy backless gown, but later on I found out it was actually kind of a lingerie/pajama party. I didn’t really want t...Read more

Terry Richardson- the man, the photos and the shlonggggg!

Question: Why do photographers always try to get models to take their clothes off? Answer: Because they can

I was truly looking forward to viewing the shock-photography of Terry Richardson- one of today's most notorious fashion photographers. Terry Richardson's photos are known to blur the line between 'photography and pornography'. One article as says 'Nothing is too vulgar for this Marquis de Sade of the photography world'.

Most of Terry's shots feature p...Read more

The Big Marketing Machine featuring Edison Chen

Running my two online city guides over the past three years has given me so much insight into the PR and marketing world.  I recently went to two events which catered to two very different markets. It was interesting to see the contrasts in how the two events were put together.

A few weeks ago, I attended Diesel's Brave magazine party. You can read my blog entry about it if you scroll down. This party catered to the underground subculture of artists, trendsetters, designers, musicians and actors. Th...Read more

Behind the scenes of a hiphongkong photo shoot

For the "sexy issue" last month, I put together all kinds of wacky stories. I spent a night clubbing in Wanchai, I toured sex shops, I took an aero-sexy dance class, and  made a pole dancing video.

About a month ago, I managed to coordinate a photo shoot about two people having a tryst. Originally, I was looking for a kitschy love motel with neon light filtering in from somewhere, but after pounding the pavement in Mongkok, Wanchai and Causeway Bay, the best thing I found was a bar in Central ...Read more

Alive not Dead and Diesel Party

Diesel has always been one of my favorite brands. Why? Because the brand is always supporting underground cultures where the trends begin. Check this website supported by Diesel: superfuture.com (Also check the forums 'superfuture supertalk'- they're a great source of travel info.)

Anyway, Diesel publishes a lifestyle magazine called Brave and they were having a party with a retrospective exhibition of the renowned Hong Kong photographer Wing Shya. Following that, there would be a performance by local hip-h...Read more
