my heart goes out to all the people in si chuan, china who was affected by the major earthquake. it's really very saddening to see so many people homeless, desperate and stripped of any hope. they don't have enough food, enough medication or any other form of amenities at all. not to mention, can you imagine the kind of pain they have to go through, losing their love ones? can you imagine losing your love one in the earthquake?

i remember experiencing my first earthquake in taiwan and i stupidly thought that my room was haunted and that's why my bed was shaking! but luckily it was a very, very minor earthquake. can you imagine if it was something as big as the one in si chuan? i might not even be here typing today.

we got to really count our blessings and think of the bigger picture, instead of always focusing on our own problems. we are not smarter or better than the people in si chuan who are affected extensively by the earthquake. we are just luckier that we are in singapore, a country without any natural disasters. that said, being in a luckier and better position, we should really try to help people who are in need whenever we could.

if you want to donate money to help the people in si chuan who are affected by the earthquake, you can send your money according to the details below.

Yes very sad - Sichuan was completely flattened as a province and the troops found it hard to get in - all the roads were crumpled. Luckily news said the pandas were ok! (which is a relief) as their captive-breeding reserve was right at the epicentre.....

Saying that I am mightily impressed by everyone including Premier Wen and our HK chief exec Donald Tsang for the speedy response. Premier Wen is a geologist by training (which I only found out yesterday) and he flew out to Sichuan 2 hours after the quake occurred to personally direct efforts to save lives; while Mr Tsang is busy organising raising vital funds in HK for the relief efforts. China is blessed to have such troops and two such great men on its side, but more importantly their personal input will be great morale boosters for everyone at this testing time. Lets give strength and hope to them, and believe that everyone they find can be saved, because time at the moment is of the essence.
