ALAN YUN (袁锦伦) Malaysian Actor, Model, Entrepreneur. “LIFE’s a DASH of LIME coupled with a SPOONFUL of SUGAR.”

“I don’t think about any POPULARITY. I have been working almost CONSISTENTLY as an ACTOR and MODEL.  I run my own BUSINESS.  I feel HAPPY and BLESSED.”

“This is my STORY, so far …..”

“Here’s BABY ALAN YUN at EIGHT MONTHS. Ain’t he CUTE?”

“I am FOUR YEARS old and I am already seeing LIFE in a different PERSPECTIVE.”

“TRUDGING MEMORY LANE.  MY HAZY, DAZY SCHOOL DAYS …..”

“A MOTHER’S love is always unconditional and perpetual. Here’s ME and my MUMMY DEAREST. WE have braved some pretty tough times. And we are SUPER CLOSE.”

“Popular actress SHARIFAH AMANI becomes one of my CLOSEST FRIENDS in SHOW BUSINESS after WE acted in the late YASMIN AHMAD’s feature film GUBRA.  SHARIFAH is always sensible and very professional.”

“My CHILDHOOD taught me that TOUGH TIMES will never last.  TOUGH PEOPLE do. I stay FOCUSED, trying not to fall into the trap of NEGATIVITY.”

ALAN YUN: UP, CLOSE and CONFIDENTIAL.

I first met ALAN YUN in 1997, when I auditioned him for a role in a television commercial.

He was then a fresh, gawky and strapping  teenager at 19 and you wouldn’t have imagined that he would ride his motorbike to the production house.

That day, he did just that and was dressed casually in a white Tee and jeans.

He was beaming joyfully, despite that the darkened sky was howling and threatening to pour.

Bravo, this kid did usher in welcome rays of “sunshine” to dispel the gloom.

It had been some long years, but I still remember this scenario.

I have watched him grow and glow, from model to actor to entrepreneur.

And this article is a tribute of sorts, of him beating the regular strife and ambivalence.

He’s relentless in his beliefs, with this powerful element called “never say die”. For ALAN YUN, 18 years in the entertainment arena certainly speak volumes.

It is no mean feat, not when you started out as a part-time model at the tender age of 15 striving for independence, to earn his keep and to supplement his diploma education.

He is now only 33 years old.

He comes from a standard income family, his parents were estranged when he was barely 10.

He and his two elder brothers were brought up by his dauntless mother who braved odds as a single parent to work in the family’s catering business as well as being a baby sitter. Close family ties? Surely. Maturity for ALAN started at this early juncture, an impromptu awakening.

The absence of a steely father made him more determined than ever to forge ahead, to persevere and to “protect” the mother he loves by planning ahead with a foresight that life can be a precarious pandora box best left alone.

You just have to work hard, do good things and then reap the harvest:

He was street-smart, confident and the exhilarating experience of independence spurred him on.

He outlasted many male supermodels starting out at that time so when it comes to beating the odds to maintain his popularity, no one can do it quite like this MALAYSIAN model and actor.

For one he’s blessed with classic good looks and he stand tall at as a strapping six-footer.

He has a perfect complexion, keeps his body is shape with sensible eating, hitting the gym and going for the regular sprint.

When asked if female fans swoon and lust over him, he winks and gives a no-tell cheeky grin. He can be charming to a fault, this fella.

You will find ALAN YUN relaxed, laid back and unassuming most times, and he remains unaffected by the magnitude of his bubbly personality.  This quality endears  him to the media, co-models, co-actors and his friends.

He is now, also a young entrepreneur, his latest venture is a sprawling Chinese seafood restaurant called PIN XIANG in Aman Suria, within the heart of Petaling Jaya.

He does his homework before he commits to any project.

Yes, nothing will ever  stop him from achieving further in his business – once he sets his heart on it.

Come what may.

ALAN YUN BELIEVES IN HARD WORK AND DISCIPLINE

Metaphorically speaking, if you ever open the door to any crypt, you’d probably have to dust away cobwebs of memories.

Everybody has a past life, whether you were romping happily or sadly.

ALAN nods his  head in acquiescence.

“Let’s say that I have been truly blessed to  have met some of the nicest people in this industry and they have remained as my pals till today.”

ALAN’s chronicles in Show Business are reiterated thus:

Yes, everybody will always treasure and  remember their “first” experience and ALAN still vividly recalls his “virgin” television commercial where he played a fire victim to highlight the potential dangers of fire crackers in Malaysia at age 15.

Yet his first real break came in 1997 at 19 when he was selected to play a bumbling postman for a major shampoo commercial and his popularity tipped the scale after that. Most Malaysians still fondly remember the shy and innocent Postman who was bedazzled by a beauty with sleek, shining and beautiful hair.

At 24 in 2002, he had a stint at  modeling and acting in China but opted out as he was homesick in a strange country.

He has recorded a song album with SONY MUSIC produced by Epicson Music but decided in 2000 that he was too impatient to be a singer.

From 2004 till todate he played the lead in notable Malaysian Chinese dramas and features.

He has recently finished filming TANDA PUTERA NEGARA an Asian film by celebrated female director Suhaimi Baba.

On the business front, he juggled with a small advertising outfit.

He has also traded in corporate premiums and building materials and his latest venture is a viable seafood restaurant PIN XIANG which he shared with three other partners.

“I have my “up” moments. I have my down times. I believe in simplicity. Into each life, some rain must pour, right?

ALAN YUN sums up:

“LIFE’s is like a dose of lime coupled with a spoonful of sugar. You just have to make it better. Trust me.”

Should you ever conjure a delectable vision of FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD, picture this:

“PIN XIANG RESTAURANT”, is smacked right in the heart of PETALING JAYA, amongst the food streets of AMAN SURIA in KUALA LUMPUR.

Can you spot YENN TEOH,  GOH WEE PING and AENIE WONG in the above picture?

The following are two beautiful actresses who have worked with ALAN YUN.

I contacted them for comments and they are swarming with praises.

Thank you,

SHARIFAH and WINCCI for your generosity.

SHARIFAH AMANI, Malaysia effervescent actress raves:

“ALAN and myself become the best of pals, after we starred in the late YASMIN AHMAD’s GUBRA. Both of us kinda challenge each other a bit. I am like the younger sister he never had and he will always be the older brother I can lean on, to turn to for advice and friendship. I’ll say this: he will peel the shells off prawns for me if ever we have a seafood meal.  ALAN is really sweet.”

SOO WINCCI is a winsome Malaysian Actress, Singer and Miss World/Malaysia 2008/2009. She pays this sincere complement:

“I am ALAN’s fervent fan as well as his friend.  He’s a charming guy, a lady’s man.  We have starred in one drama series so far (my first) and he’s always on hand to guide me on how to act or to face the camera, among other things. I’ll vouch that he’s a fine fella, a caring gentleman.”

At age 19, ALAN YUN became an instant hit when he portrayed the POSTMAN in this television commercial created by the late YASMIN AHMAD.

Just take a walk down memory lane with the cute Postman. Love will always be around (sniff).

ALAN does have a voice to match his looks.  Hear him belting it out in this lingering ballad.
