Hong Kong, 2008 - Tuesday 22July 2.51am
Almost one month in Hong Kong, time passes quickly but the days are always eventful. I finally have the time and mind to sit on the computer and reach out somewhat, to anyone who cares to read my jargon. Times have already been filled with wonder and emotion, my mind has been attempting to solve many problems and equally I've been doing all I can to embrace my personal aims with heading back to this city. This is my third time here, now staying in a place I'd never known before 39 floors into the sky (feel like we live in Laputa). The band has been embraced by HK and I am forever humbled by the reactions HK Live has given us as well as the support from The Underground. I'm a little bit baffled by the fact we headline our first gig here and support on our second, interesting to do the most intense show first, yet, when in Rome... right? The radio interview is set up after two weeks of organising this website and taking in the sights etc.
There is buzz in the air here, an unseen force or vibration if you prefer. We appear to be riding this buzz as so much is fitting together nicely. There has however been a communication breakdown someplace, we've been asked several times to talk on our influences and the such; many standard questions to depict our sound so that others will pour into our gigs. I'm totally aware of the needs for such questions, but to clarify, JAIGON began life as a soundtracking tool. For those in the know, think of all the Anime shows that have a nicely weaved intro video featuring some relevant J-Pop/Rock band to bring forwards the emotion/themes of the series somewhat. Well my vision was to produce a 'Neo-Tao' online series and JAIGON was a way to create out own songs for intro/outro clips. Why not? we have the talent in our ranks and the musical needs to make this happen (not to mention we save a bunch of money right). The turn around was when we played our recorded EP to friends and family and got some major feedback: suddenly, we saw a way we could bring something very special to life. I'm quickly tempted to write a more in depth bio of the band here but I think you understand the logics, so when anyone asks us what is our influences or if dear reader you are curious... Our influences are 'Neo-Tao' plot points, some you've seen and some you are yet to. Whatever we sound like is incidental and usually quite unintentional, but be under NO illusion we play live because we love to inspire, we love to reach out and, well, just ask any muscian what the best part of their job is. I guess what I'm saying here is there is no desire to jump into a 'Rock star' ego state, this band is a gift not only to us within the line up but also to be given these opportunities. There is a purpose in all we do, this will become clear in time, for now though I simply thank you Hong Kong, thank you for reminding me of human warmth. Next entry will not be so work orientated and will be more focused on the adventures I promise!!! I guess I'm just preparing for the interviews (forever the pro huh?)
Till next time
Peace Love Empathy... Dani
