As I blogged on the night of, I was excited to finally get to see Slash perform here in HK last Thursday night. My friends and I went up to Asiaworld expecting a good show and we weren't disappointed. It was held in one of the Expo Halls, and I was surprised to see such a good turn out. It was a lot of older expats but also a lot of younger local rock fans as well.
The crowd was pretty pumped by the time Slash and his band came out.
They played a mix of new stuff (solo album) old stuff (Velvet Revolver + Snakepit), and really old stuff (GnR!)
During the encore Slash went shirtless...
If you hadn't noticed, its extremely hard to get Slash's face in a photo... all you usually get is a big bush of hair and maybe some sunglasses if you're lucky.
still in pretty decent shape for 45years old! :-P
OK, maybe he needs a few more minutes on the stairmaster, but pretty decent!
Even though I wasn't up on all the new stuff, I did recognize a good amount of the Velvet Revolver and of course GnR stuff. I recognized Civil War, Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City from GnR and Fall to Pieces by Velvet Revolver.
Of course I took some video! Here are clips of Sweet Child O' Mine:
and Paradise City (the finale).
W00t! one more thing to scratch off my bucket list! The singer, Myles Kennedy is pretty good, isn't he! Despite having big shoes to fill. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future! It was cool to see that there's still an audience for 'real' rock n roll here in HK... hope to see more again soon!
