On Tuesday night, the 'Live N Loud' festival was held at the Asia World Expo Center. A bunch of us went up to check it out. The Typhoon was rolling into town, and it was running late, but I was surprised they got a pretty good turn out:
I'm not a big 'alternative rock' or whatever the genre that fits these bands is, but I recognized Simple Plan, hypothetically the 'headline' and one song by 'One Republic'...
so to cut to the chase, here's two videos I did of those two bands:
One Republic 'Apologize':
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjCyuD0w6PQ
Simple Plan 'Shut Up' + some other ones
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v785gKOAGs4 I was impressed w/ Simple Plan, even though they didn't go on til about midnight, when a lot of people had left, they still had a lot of energy... and as you can see in the video, they actually made a BIG effort to speak in Cantonese to the crowd... quite an effort!
btw, I actually edited that video on the train home, so I uploaded it to youtube like 1 hour after it happened... for at least part of today it was the #1 viewed music clip on youtube HK! ;-)
Anyway, here's some of my pics -
Dominic Lau was the host... for some reason they had like 15-20 minute breaks between the bands to set up... poor Dom had to fill the time... :-P
They really ought to have invested in some moving platforms so they could have cut set up time... just roll in the new drum kit and go (or share one!) the show went quite late (i heard it ended after 1, i took off before simple plan finished cause i didn't want to miss the last train!)
Lost Prophets:
This guy was kind of an A$$... (he even said it himself..) he was like "hong Kong... we used to own you... if you don't scream for me, we'll own you again...' way to go British Imperialist! :-P
Actually the keyboardist in white was the most funny... he was the yang to the guy in black's yin... but he got like WAY into it for a keyboardist.. jumping around, doing kicks in the air, stepping on the amp to sing, etc.... i think he forgets sometimes and thinks he's the lead singer... entertaining... :-P
One Republic:
Seemed like everyone just wanted to hear 'Apologize'... they were rather well received by the crowd, but i felt like they were a bit too much of a Coldplay clone. :-P
Sideshow Bob has escaped and is now touring Asia...
Most of my friends left by the time Simple Plan came out, it was too bad.
Last but not least -
