Got a request for some photos of my process, so here are some lousy ones. Also to note, I'm going to redo the final piece to make it better. Please enjoy!
These are screen grabs from the Sleeping Beauty DVD feature "4 Artists Paint 1 Tree". The DVD is out of print right now, but I hear that a new version of it will be released in the near future. This feature alone is worth buying the set for, not to mention the gallery section and the stunning movie itself. A movie with visuals like this could never be made today (it took 6 years). These are two of the four legendary artist's interpretations of the same giant oak tree and are too fantastic not to share.
A small thank you for some kind folks that helped retrieve our lost camera.
Edit: Tried to adjust the colors a little better.

On my way home from work today, I passed a couple nice scenes with trees. They were a beautiful mix of the remnants of winter and the beginnings of spring. This particular one caught my eye, so when I got home I said hi to my lady, threw my bag down and began painting like a man possessed. I didn't even change clothes or sit down the whole time, and had fun with some different sponges which is something I'd like to practice more.
Bit of a break from my norm... but not terribly surprising to those who know I have a tree fet...Read more
I recently put up a temporary page while I work on my final illustration website. Please click on the image if you'd like to stop on by. The full site will have a similar feel.
In other news, I'm officially a year older. Feel free to party amongst yourselves in my or Bruce Willis's honor. Happy Birthday, Mr. Willis!
I took a break from working on my new website and my other project to paint this just for fun. I didn't transfer a sketch onto the paper, just painted directly to see how it would feel. Felt aight.
I'll be doing a series based on this idear.

More Sam Jack bgs from episode 33. These were painted by Scott Wills and Jenny Gase-Baker, two outstanding bg painters (obviously). I love the variety in the backgrounds throughout this show. It really does make for a cinematic feel... more so than any cartoon series I know of. Copyright Genndy Tartakovsky and Cartoon Network. Please enjoy!
BTW, these are screencaps from the DVDs (that you should all own!). I'm not affiliated with the show, just a big fan of the artists involved and their amazing work.
I know it's a cheesy holiday, but I made this little card for my lady.
