The anticipation for the Olympics is not doubt swelling. Apart from the
mascots which I rate them as..... mediocre (or on the meanest extreme, fugly); the icons for different sports events certainly deserve some props. Highly loyal to Chinese culture made best to exploit the original
Chinese pictogram. Have you even thought of it is such a beauty to WRITE, or, being able to write elegantly? Even though bounded by the squarely formation of Chinese characters; the richness of it, the pictorial basis of it allow great metamorphisis to be executed in the soul of the characters.
The Oriental culture, by any means, is going to rule in the next decade or two. Being CHINOISE, bearing the decendency, tongzhimen, it's about time to EMBRACE YOUR ROOTS. I reckoned that very few people in Hong Kong (including myself) genuinely love and appreciate our mother nation -- given the stereotypical tyrannies pertainining to a sad history of the society and politics. I contend the segregation of AESTHETIC and POLITICS, even though most of the time things are just slighly more than black-and-white: politicians play along with their "artsy" games, while artists provoke politics and create controversies (yes, have totally overlooked the business/commercial factor here, but screw it!).
So, overlooking any other things but just something purely pleasant to look at... here is a piece by, again,
Wing Shya that I think worth sharing:

You don't have to agree with me. And I don't LOVE this entire culture thing as much, but I am learning to appreciate it. By this, I think, is the only means to take a step back and weigh it to yourself: what is worth your attention?
