Sometimes if there's old people or children on the MTR, I will give up my seat, unless I'm passed out (which happens often on the MTR I'm afraid).
If the person is alone, they might say thank you. If it's a child accompanied by a parent or grandparent, the elder will usually say, "big brother gave you his seat. say thank you." or something like that.

For me, it would hands down have to be Jimi Hendrix, and not his early stuff, but more his later stuff where he branched out more, experimented more (with jazz, other ensembles, etc.)
